Tucson Adobe

15x15 watercolor of an old adobe house finished yesterday, shot on one of many trips to Tucson, Arizona. From the grey brown hills behind the house, to the cactus, red yucca, and other vegetation this southwest desert scene is sure to enchant you. Its wooden cross with a bell beside it to keep it company rounds out the composition while dark clouds move across the sky. I particularly enjoy its decorated doorway and vigas.

Is Everyone Ready for a Douglas Experience???

A week from today we'll all be getting ready for another 5 days of hell, much like Doug Walton's work here in his mission series we watched him paint in Arlington a few years back. I love this painting and the pure energy it has.
Just learned a friend from West Texas Watercolor Society will be joining us, so I hope she is ready for a Douglas Experience! I know the Caboose gals are!

New Mexico Art

Since 2007 I've been collecting primitive local New Mexican art first in Taos and now in Ruidoso or anywhere in the state I can find it. Yesterday I bought this made from an antique Maxwell House coffee can flattened with a photo transfer image by an unknown artist. It measures about 14x14 (ignore my kitchen blinds behind it) and goes perfectly with the other art here in our La Luz house. I thought with all our angel art recently completed you Caboose artists might like to see this.

Best Friends

This is 11x14 done on Arches paper for our Legends and Legacies show. I tried to depict the love of the dog for his master after a hard day at the ranch. Where I live dogs and horses are still a cowboys best friends as they live and work together every day.

Southwest Shops Challenge

17x11 on Winsor Newton 140 lb cold press paper, Daniel Smith paints, from Linda's photo challenge. I could not locate the digital file so had to re-photograph this watercolor. You can feel the blazing white hot heat on the stucco and stone.
