watercolor on paper 22 X 30.  This was from a drawing I had done from a stil life set up .  I didn't have the set up so just made it up as I splashed color on  & I like this one better.

22x15 on 140 lb cold press Saunders paper; these are enjoying summer before it ends.

Dragonfly with Poppies

13.5 x 16.25 mixed media on matboard (latex acrylic, watercolor, spray webbing black and silver for wings, ink). I coated the mat with matte medium and gesso, let dry, then spritzed cobalt blue watercolor plus moss green latex acrylic. I let it dry then drew the insect outline, developed its wings with both colors spray webbing, and blocked out poppy shapes, stems, and leaves in pencil. After painting the plants while still wet, I lifted out color with a facial tissue and a paper towel for an antiqued botanical look.

Here is our first post and what better subject than a "Poppy Meadow", hot off the press, 10 minutes to draw and 1.5 hours to paint this 10x14 inch beaut. I used Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press block, Daniel Smith colors. Painting wet on dry with a #8 synthetic round is what was used. It is good to see some color and hope Spring is right around the corner!
