Messin With The Masters by Leada Wood

Just in case you didn't get by the Heritage Museum when the Caboose Watercolor Society show Messin' With The Masters was up, I made a video of everyone's work. Just push the play arrow and it should work! I do apologize that not all of the artists were at the opening where the group photo was taken, Kay Smith and Carole Berry were not in attendance.

The artists Estelle Howard, Linda Rupard, Kay Smith, Carole Berry, Sue Bagwell and Leada Wood picked old masters to inspire creations and interpret into their style. It was a fun and entertaining show and lots of people said it was our best exhibition.

ENJOY!

Down at the Ranch

Caboose Girls

Four of the Caboose Watercolor Society were at the Liz Hill Figurative Workshop on the Wenmohs Ranch. In front is Sue Bagwell and back left to right is Kay Smith, Leada Wood and Carole Berry. The Bunkhouse is a fun artist retreat with world class instructors. To see a list of workshops click here: http://www.wenmohsranch.com/.  Dena is a wonderful lady, great artist and awesome hostess. You can stay at the ranch and paint your heart out! She has three day and weeklong retreats for artists.
Liz Hill was a great teacher, we had a different model each day and would draw in the mornings and paint in the afternoons. It is not your ordinary figurative workshop. Liz teaches you to draw with charcoal on prepared surfaces and then paint the figures in watercolors. It makes unusual and exciting figurative paintings. To see Liz's work and her upcoming workshops  click here: http://www.lizhillart.com/

Caboose Annual Show "We Love Our Pets"

Last Friday Sept. 23, our Caboose group had its opening reception at the Heritage Museum in Big Spring.  Here are some shots of that evening. I hope the rest of the group can get by to see the lovely display of our pets.  Thanks to members of the BS Art Association who attended the reception and also the community supporters.  A very big thanks to the staff of the museum for hanging the show; the green walls backdrop was just perfect! Stop by and get your free postcards and visit a variation of pet portraits from pigs and turtles to cats and dogs, at 510 Scurry St.  The show hangs until November 2nd.

Leada's Mixed Media Demo in Big Spring

Tonight at Big Spring Art Association's opening fall meeting, guest artist Leada Wood of Colorado City (one of our Caboose gals) showed the crowd at Heritage Museum how to do her mixed media.  Using canvas and gel mediums, handmade papers and stamps, Leada incorporates these plus found objects into her abstractions.

Manikin

This is an old painting that I painted over using all opaque watercolor until the very end.
Tex thinks she has too much make up on. That is so funny.

Two special angels

Estelle Howard and Linda Rupard-Irvin are two very special angels in the Christmas tree forest at the Heritage Museum. I was the last member of the Caboose Watercolor Society but I am thankful to be a part of such a great group of artists. I am honored to call them my friends.

Here's another shot of the Caboose gals

Well here is another shot of us minus Carole. We almost had the whole gang there tonight. We missed you Carole! It was really magical and the Christmas tree forest was beautiful! Thank you Heritage Museum for the opportunity of showing our angels.
