Demo at Snyder TX: Spring is in the Air

15x11 watercolor vignette, a demo done yesterday for the Snyder, Texas Palette Club.  This imaginary scene is painted on Arches 140 lb cold press paper and features cosmos, blackeyed susans, anemones, tulips as a watercan bouquet, while a hummingbird circles above.

Hollyhock: "Black Tie"

30x22 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper with Daniel Smith paints.  I grew several black hollyhocks outside my studio door but no blooms this year thanks to the drought.  In my photo the bloom is more dark blood red, but with this one I've gone to the dark side and have pushed color, exaggerating where necessary.

These nice warm winter days have me thinking of Spring flowers and one of my favorites is pink tulips. This is a 5x7 transparent watercolor.

15x22 on Italia Acquerello 140 lb cold press paper, AJ, DS, DV paints. It is my entry for this month's art association challenge of watering cans. Drawn from my antique metal can and fresh pansies, it is a scene for Spring!

Good News for Good Hare Day!

Yesterday I received news that this image, Good Hare Day, was selected by a major design company for a licensing on its products for 2 years! They make textile design for products such as napkins, paper plates, mugs, coasters, ceramics, etc. Next year for Spring the products should be out and I will get samples to see.

15x11, 1/4 sheet on cold press paper, showing a sweet pansy face rather large in macro format. Its leaves are painted negatively for contrast and interest in the realistic focal point and overall composition. SOLD!
